Clayton J. Johnson

CLAYTON J JOHNSON, AGE 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024.  Beloved husband of Yvonne Johnson for 63 years.  Brother of Clifton (Betty) Johnson. Loving father of Clark & Marea (Cardille) Johnson, Carl & Gabriel (Marlow) Johnson, Curtis & Liz (DeSimone) Johnson, Clif Johnson, Chad & Katie (Neil) Johnson.  Proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a slew of nieces and nephews. Clay became one of the youngest Eagle Scouts in the country as a teenager.  He served his country in the army.  Clayton graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and was awarded a Master’s degree from UCLA Long Beach. He was an executive with United States Steel Company for many years, followed by years of working for some of Pittsburgh’s largest law firms. He most loved spending the summers at their home on Canadohta lake surrounded by family.  His daughter-in-law Katie captured the essence of Clay when she wrote: “Puppup was so kind, caring, and loving to his family and all those around him. He always had time for the little kids and big kids alike. He enjoyed creating special memories for the grandkids, time at the lake, making pancakes for breakfast, special Puppup orange or root beer floats, building the perfect campfire, boat rides, special one on one trips to giant eagle, carving the holiday meat just perfectly, sharing cake and ice cream whenever possible... But most of all, I think enjoyed having his family around him and being together whenever possible. We have been blessed by him in so many ways.” A memorial service followed by a reception will be held at Hiland Presbyterian Church 845 Perry Hwy Pittsburgh PA 15229 on Saturday, May 11 at 2:00 pm.
