Donna Stokes

Donna Stokes, age 67, of Glenshaw, took her final breaths surrounded by family after a difficult but courageous battle with cancer.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Donna is survived by her husband of 43 years, Thomas Stokes; her children: Emily Stokes (Eric Barndollar), Brenden Stokes (Rachel), Patrick Stokes (Indira), Samantha Stokes, and Rebekah Templin (Tim); her grandchildren: Peter, Priya, Lyrica, and Ronen; brother Daniel Wise (Sherie); many nieces and nephews; and her three dogs.

She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Wise, mother Dorothy Wise, brother Kenneth Wise II, and brother Larry Wise.

Donna was a nurse at St. Margaret’s Hospital for over 40 years—a diligent caregiver who treated her patients with dignity and empathy.

She is remembered for her years of dedication to Epworth United Methodist Church in Allison Park and her commitment to caregiving beyond nursing, including being a foster and adoptive mom, and volunteering in retirement at St. Margaret’s Hospital.

Donna was a member of the auxiliary at American Legion Post 106 in Sharpsburg and a life member of the auxiliary at VFW Post 9199 in Shaler Township. She was a Blue Star Mother and endured her husband’s and son’s deployments to Afghanistan.

Donna always looked for the good in people. She enjoyed simple pleasures like feeding the hummingbirds in her backyard. Above all, she cherished time with her children and grandchildren and captured those memories in her beautiful scrapbooks.

Visitation will be held on November 7th from 11 a.m.to 3 p.m. at Bock Funeral Home, Ltd. 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. A Memorial service will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church in Allison Park on November 8th at 2 pm. A catered reception celebrating Donna’s life will follow.
