Edith (Thill) Nemeth, age 89, of Shaler passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Edie was the beloved wife for 63 years of the late Donald Nemeth. Edie was the loving mother of Sharon (Doug) Opperman and Nancy (Rob) Gleyze; proud grandmother of Leanne (Jeffrey) Homza, Rachel Opperman, Emily Opperman, Michael Gleyze, Daniel Gleyze and Steven Gleyze; great-grandmother of Evan and Sophia Homza. Edie was the youngest of five children and is survived by her dear brother, Len, and preceded in death by Albert, Lois, and Richard. Edie is survived by sisters-in-law Janet Holland and Marie (Charlie) Claus, preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Fred Sieg and Bill Holland. In her younger years, Edie enjoyed traveling with Lois (her sister and best friend), and spending time with friends in her weekly bowling league and monthly card club, which lasted for over 40 years. She especially enjoyed the annual Thill family picnics at North Park for over 60 years, which still continue today. Her family always came first and she could be seen at many of her grandchildren’s activities. Edie was a life-long member of the First United Church of Christ in Millvale and her famous, Sunday, after-church breakfasts will long be remembered. She also loved hosting the holidays, and her family has fond members of her traditional “Pittsburgh” Christmas Eve buffet. Edie was a kind, quiet soul who exemplified amazing strength as she faced many challenges in her later years. Edie never gossiped, always looked for the best in people, and always reminded us to help others as you never know what they might be going through. Her legacy of kindness and caring will live on through her family. Friends will be received Thursday, July 10, 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, funeral service at 10:00 AM Friday, July 11, at BOCK FUNERAL HOME, LTD. 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd Glenshaw. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Church of Christ, 425 North Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15209. The family would also like to express their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at The Haven of North Hills Senior Residence.
