Francis Daniel “Dan” Sipko
With enormous sadness we announce the passing of Dan Sipko. He passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, at age 89. Born Feb 10, 1937, on the North Side of Pittsburgh to Polish immigrant parents, he was raised mostly by his Mother Eva and shared a home with his late brothers Richard and Henry. His start in life with humble beginnings developed him into the person he became. He epitomized hard work, perseverance and love for family. His beginnings later instilled values, work ethic and character in his family.
He was a proud Navy veteran and served with honor and integrity aboard the USS Midway. He loved his service to his country and was a Patriot in every sense of the word. Dan made his living in the USPS and retired from his career in 1995.
After his Naval service, he returned to Pittsburgh and married his loving wife of 63 years, Jean Kruth and was the loving father of 3 children, Janice, Dave and Joe as well as 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Along with love for family and love of country, Dan was also a devout Catholic and was a man of faith. He also owned and managed rental properties which kept him busy through most of his life. He also enjoyed many home projects and was very skilled with woodwork and construction.
In his retirement years, he loved to travel with Jean and especially enjoyed many cruise vacations as well as group bus trips. Dan had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great storyteller to share details of his life experiences. He was around from the beginning of the Steeler organization and was a lifelong fan and supporter of the Team.
Dan is survived by his wife Jean (Kruth) Sipko, his daughter Janice (Kochik) Sipko, son Joe and son David and daughter-in-law Melanie (Russell) Sipko, grandchildren Michael, Danny, Jessica, Emily and Brian, great grandchildren Claire and Evelyn.
