James L. Fisher

James L. Fisher, “Jim”, 73, of Glenshaw, PA passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 14, 2024. Jim was born on August 20, 1950, the oldest of five, to the late Laurence and Eileen Fisher.  Jim was a pillar of the community and devoted public servant having served as a School Board Director of Shaler Area School Board for 29 years, representative for the board of the A. W. Beattie Career Center and Tri-COG Land Bank, a board member of the Hampton Shaler Water Authority and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Glenshaw. Jim worshipped at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was an active member serving on the Congregation Council, as an usher, on the Property Committee, a member of the men’s group, and serving countless meals over the past several decades. Jim was a graduate of Etna High School and of the University of Pittsburgh and spent his career as a chemical engineer focused on municipal water treatment at Calgon Carbon and American Water, which took him across the United States, visiting 48 out of the 50 states and traveling internationally. Jim is survived by his beloved wife Suzi (Huddleston) Fisher, who were just 3 months shy of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary together, and with whom he shared a love of community service and travel. The couple enjoyed spending time together and with family and wonderful friends in both Shaler and Myrtle Beach, SC. Jim is survived by his loving children Erin (Fisher) and son-in-law Kevin Hollenbaugh and Craig and daughter –in-law Katie (Clark) Fisher. Jim is also survived by grandchildren Luke and Becca Hollenbaugh and Colette and Colin Fisher, who will miss Pappy’s shows of support at a variety of their activities, words of encouragement, and especially Pappy’s tractor rides, and golf cart rides to say good morning to the ducks and turtles at Myrtle Beach. Jim was a devoted family man, who always had a word of advice on a variety of topics, a love of Shaler Area Titan sports, golf, model trains, and the Pittsburgh sports teams. Jim is also survived by his siblings John (Shari) Fisher, Marianne (Fisher) Phillips (the late Steve), Steve (Jo) Fisher, and Richard (Brenda) Fisher and brothers-in-law the late William Huddleston (Ellen) and Tom (Janet) Huddleston, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends. Family and friends will be received at the Bock Funeral Home, Ltd., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  A funeral service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1719 Mt. Royal Blvd, Glenshaw, on Wednesday at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for charitable donations in Jim’s name to Shaler Area High School Scholarship Fund c/o SAHS Activities Office; 381 Wible Run Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15209, or Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1719 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, PA 15116.
