James W. Schaub

James W. Schaub, Age 83, of Glenshaw, PA, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, following a courageous seven-year battle with vascular and Lewy body dementias.Jim was a 1960 graduate of Saint George High School in Pittsburgh’s Allentown neighborhood. He began his career in the mailroom of the Pittsburgh Stock Exchange and, through hard work and determination, worked his way up to the “cage” before becoming the youngest person to trade stocks on the Pittsburgh exchange floor. In 1964, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for two years, after which he returned to the Stock Exchange until its closure in August 1974. He then continued his career as a securities trader with Federated Hermes, Inc. for nearly 30 years before retiring.Jim enjoyed hunting, listening and sing to doo-wop music, cheering on the Steelers, and relaxing with a glass of Jack Daniel’s—often all in the same weekend. Above all, he treasured time spent with his beloved family and friends, who will remember his steady presence, quick wit, and the way he never missed a chance to share a story (or a strong opinion). He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Diane (Kramer) Schaub; his children, Jason Schaub (Jennifer), Jonathan Schaub (Michelle), and Jessica Satler; and his seven grandchildren, Chance, Xander, Matthew, Anna, Olivia, James (JD), and Michael. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen (Kraus) Schaub; his first wife, Elsie (Zajac) Schaub; his brother, Robert Schaub; and his sister, Janet Clay. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers and staff of VA Hospice Unit, Arden Courts North Hills, Commonwealth Hospice, and Hope Hospice for their dedicated care and support over the past 3+ years. Memorial service and interment will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
