Janice Louise Lauer (Hicks)

Janice Louise Lauer (Hicks) passed away Tuesday evening September 2 at age 61. She was born February 9, 1964 to Edward and Jeri Lauer. She was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area and attended Shaler High School. Rarely ever seen without a colorful, bedazzled ballcap, she loved anything purple. She enjoyed watching the Steelers or the Penguins, regardless of how the teams played. Most of the time, she preferred animals over people and was never without at least one pet. Dogs or cats it didn’t matter, she loved them all, though maybe cats a bit more. She enjoyed spending time whenever possible on the beach, often visiting friends in Florida or relaxing on the shores of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Friends and family knew to be ready for some good-natured teasing when she was around. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Jeri Lauer and her husband Charles Hicks. Surviving her is her daughter Casey Hicks, her brother Thomas Lauer (Monica) and her nieces Chelsea and Hallie Lauer. Friends will be received Sunday September 7 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the Bock Funeral Home, Ltd., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw.
