John E. Vasilko

John Edward Vasilko, 83, of Allison Park, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026. He was born on October 8, 1942, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. John lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a steadfast work ethic.

John was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and his family eventually moved to Ellsworth, Pennsylvania where he graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1961. Following high school, he proudly served four years in the United States Air Force as a member of the Military Police during the Vietnam War. After his service, John utilized the G.I. Bill to study computer technology at the Computer Institute in Pittsburgh, setting the foundation for a long and successful career.

For 40 years, John was employed at West Penn Administration, which became Laborer’s Combined Funds in 1978. He was Operations Supervisor when he retired in 2006. It was there that he met Donna, who would become his beloved wife. The two were married in 1973 and shared over five decades of love and partnership. To support family activities such as vacations and his children’s participation in hockey and baton and drum corps events John also worked a second job with Aramark for 20 years—a testament to his unwavering commitment to providing for his family.

John was a devoted husband to Donna (Jahn) and a loving father to J. Aaron Vasilko (Melissa) of Apopka, Florida and Kelley A. Miller (Austin) of Havre de Grace, Maryland. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Evan, Ben, and Delilah Vasilko and Aubree and Deklan Miller. He also has a sister Vicki Hudock (Ed) residing in Haines City Florida. John had many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother Ann F. Petti; Stepfather, Ernest Petti Jr.; Sister, Kathleen Diamond (Vasilko); and Brother, Robert Vasilko.

A man of quiet strength and generosity, John enjoyed hunting and fishing for many years before developing a fondness for old Western movies later in life. His faith was an important part of who he was; he was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Parish in Glenshaw, Pennsylvania.

John will be remembered as a kind-hearted man who never spoke harshly of anyone—a loving husband and father whose care for others left an indelible mark on all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him deeply.

Friends will be received on Sunday August 2, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Bock Funeral Home 1500 Mt. Royal Boulevard Glenshaw, PA 15116.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, August 3, 2026, 10:30AM at our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 2510 Middle Road, Glenshaw, PA 15116. Internment in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum following mass.
