Lois P. Pawluk

Lois P. Pawluk, 89, passed peacefully on January 6th, 2024, at home, with her family by her side. She was born on February 15th, 1934. Resided in Etna for 74 years. A loving mother and grandmother, she lived for her family. Lois spent most of her years raising her children, playing with her grandchildren, and being an outstanding member of her community. She was a member of The First Congregational Church of Etna. Active in the church as a Deacon, a member of the ladies' aid bowling league, sending cards to shut-ins and the sick, and a caregiver to many people in the neighborhood as their health declined. She also cleaned for many seniors who needed help. She could never drive, as hard as everyone tried to teach her, so you often found her walking to the stores in lower Etna. Mum enjoyed going on bus trips and dinner with her friends or in her kitchen cooking and baking for others and her family. Keeping in touch with friends and family was her passion. Lois was resilient, young-spirited, and constantly on the move.  You’re only as old as you feel she would say. She was up for anything, whether it was playing street hockey with her grandsons, Joe and Brian, going on small adventures with her granddaughters, Reese and Mackenzie, or sleepovers with her grandson Nathaniel. No matter what outcome, they always had a good time. As she has said before, "As long as you are having fun, that's all that matters." Lois was loved by many. Remember her as the kind, fun, loving, strong woman she was. Live a little more like her, laugh as she took everything in life so light-heartedly; it's so short. Lois was a wife to the late Harry Sr. The mother of Harry Jr. (Kathy) and Sandra (Joe). The grandmother of Joe (Katie), Brian (Alyssa), Nathaniel (Livy), Mackenzie and Reese. Aunt Lo and godmother to Jack (Sherry), Aunt Lo to Dave (Amy), Pam (Pete and Children), Doug (Elenor), Sue, Bill (Maryrose), Debbie (Glen), Nancy, George and Judy.

She was preceded in death by her Father, George, and Mother, Sophia, and her Swope/Schwab sisters and brothers: Ruth, Bud, Doll (Bill), Ray (Betty), Jane (Jack), and Herk (Martha.) Brother and sister-in-law’s of the Pawluk Family: Helen (Mike), John, Henry, Steve (Annie), Pete (Angie), and Mary.

We would like to thank Lois, Kerry, and Kelsey, her caregivers, for the past five years, along with the Amedisys Hospice Nurses and support team, and neighbor Monica (Betty), who was always there for her.  The Congregations at First Congregational of Etna, Ardara United Presbyterian, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Al and Maryanne for keeping Lois in their thoughts and prayers. All the cards and holiday gift bags were very much appreciated.

Thank you all.

Rest in peace, Gammy. We love you!
