At 92 years young, Margaret “Peggy” Eshelman danced her way into the arms of the Lord on May 8, 2026 — likely with a glass of wine in her hand and a witty joke ready for the angels and family members waiting to greet her in heaven.
Peggy never met a dance floor she didn’t love, especially on St. Patrick’s Day. Proud of her Irish heritage, she was known for her lively Irish jigs and could out-dance people half her age. She was a familiar and beloved face in Pittsburgh’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, bringing smiles and energy everywhere she went.
A true pioneer, Peggy became one of Pittsburgh’s first female car sales associates, proving quickly that she could outsell and out-negotiate just about anyone on the lot.
Peggy’s incredible work ethic kept her busy for most of her life. She worked at Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers games until the age of 81, where her outgoing personality and infectious spirit became part of the game-day experience for generations of fans.
More than anything, Peggy loved her family. Their happiness was her greatest joy!
She was born January 2, 1934, in Pittsburgh, PA to John and Vera Daly. Preceded in death by her husband, Richard Eshelman, and her brothers Joseph “Bing” and Michael Daly.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine (Edward) Bodnar; her son, Mark (Maria) Eshelman; her grandchildren, Sean (Lora Davis) Bodnar, Wes Bodnar, Elyse (Matthew) Fogerty, Zachery and Danielle Eshelman; and her great-grandchildren, Cassius Bodnar and Theo Fogerty.
The family asks that you honor Peggy’s memory by doing an act of kindness for someone in need — especially the lonely or elderly.
In accordance with her wishes, Peggy will be cremated. A private memorial service for family members and close friends will be held on June 5, 2026.
