Margaret Jane Smith, born February 20, 1939, passed away peacefully at home on April 29,2025, in Mountainside, NJ at the age of 86. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, to William Woodbury Ford and Jane Elizabeth (Croyle) Ford (nee Croyle). Peggy grew up in Glenshaw, PA graduating from Shaler High School, Carnegie Institute of Technology (BFA), and the University of Michigan (MA). Peggy grew up in Glenshaw, PA. She graduated from Shaler High School, Carnegie Institute of Technology (BFA), and the University of Michigan, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Art. She later attained an MBA from Rutgers University Newark, NJ. Peggy was a devoted mother and homemaker and who pursued artistic endeavors in a variety of media. She was active in many community organizations and activities including organizing her 60th high school reunion in 2017.Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Dean Leroy Smith, Jr., her son Milton (and wife Diane), her daughter Julia “Julie” (and husband Murray Thompson), and grandson Ethan Thompson. She also is survived by her brother Robert William Ford, MD, (and wife Karen) of Allison Park. Peggy’s visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM Thursday May 8, 2025 at Bock Funeral Home, Ltd. 1500 Mount Royal Blvd. followed by interment in Mount Royal Cemetery, Glenshaw.  On June 19, 2025, a memorial service will be held in the Chapel of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Watts Mountainside Community Foundation, www.wattsmountainside.org.
