Mary Barbara Lagiovane, Age 82, of Allison Park, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023. Barb’s first loves are her faith and her family. Beloved wife of the late Ronald; loving mother of Greg, Dan, and Sharon (Mark); Proud grandma of Ally, Ryan, and Evan; dear sister of the late Jack Colleran; Daughter of the late William J. and Mary Winifred Colleran. Barbara was born and raised in Youngstown, OH where she attended St. Dominic Elementary School. Cardinal Mooney High School and graduated with a BS in Nursing from Duquesne University, where she met her husband, Ron. Barb was a nurse for 40 + years, earning two Master’s Degrees, certifications as an EMT, Red Cross Instructor (where she volunteered as an instructor for 32 years), a school nurse and other graduate areas. Her work experience included instructor of Professional nursing students, rehabilitation and nursing home supervisor, and school nursing. Her interests and hobbies included her love of learning, she took multiple classes and seminars, and was a member of Osher Life Long Learning Center at CMU. She loved traveling both nationally and internationally, visiting 28 different countries in her lifetime. She was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed her book club discussions. In her spare time she had a love of music, theater and concerts and also took part in physical activity enjoying swimming, walking, and taking exercise classes. In addition to the Red Cross, Barb also enjoyed volunteering at the Hospice facilities and as a scout leader in the schools as homeroom mother. She was also an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Mary’s Church, since 1970. Over the time years, she was a Eucharistic Minister, CCD Instructor, a member of the Worship Committee, Caring Hands, Christian Mothers, Co-chair of Special Liturgies (which initiated the Marian Shrine), founder of the Widows/Widowers Group and volunteered at the Parish’s festivals and flea markets. Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 8 PM at the Bock Funeral Home, Ltd., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Mary Church, Glenshaw. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Vincent de Paul.
