Claudia Anne (Wicker) Leight

Friday, July 31, 2020

Claudia Anne (Wicker) Leight, Age 74, of Hampton Twp., formerly of Morningside, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020. Beloved wife of 41 years to Sherman Leight; Dear sister of Kathryn (the late John) Leight and the late Bob Wicker and Marlene Wicker; Proud Aunt of John (Michele) Wicker, Lorraine Rivera, Amanda (Mark) Leight, and Ashley (Nick) McCullar; also survived by many loving great nieces and nephews. Claudia passed away this week leaving a hole in many of our hearts and lives. She lived with her husband in the house they built together, where she attended to every detail, whether it was embroidering her own hand towels or fashioning her own curtains. She was the epitome of the word selfless. Caring for others was a cornerstone of her personality. She was always first to volunteer, first to take action, first to step up. No job was too big or too small for her to tackle. While she didn't have children of her own, she became a second mother to many in her life, keeping a pen in hand and card ready for every occasion. She was a woman of class, who took great pride in her home, her professional job, and any job she undertook. Outside of her family, she had many things she loved, including dogs (especially golden retrievers), travel, and classic monster and horror movies. The legacy Auntie leaves us is a legacy that teaches us to go above and beyond, to learn how someone takes their coffee, to memorize the phone number, write the thank you note, to make space for what is special to the people in our lives. And when the world gets overwhelming, we all need to take a page from Claudia: take a deep breath, make a wave of the hand, and say "Don't worry about it." Lots of times you have an aunt in your life, but you only have one Auntie. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 11 AM to 1:30 PM at the Bock Funeral Home, LTD., 1500 Mount Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, where a Celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 PM.Due to the current Covid19 Pandemic, we kindly ask out of consideration for the family and other visitors, please consider sending flowers in lieu of participating in person. If you do choose to express your condolences in person, please respect our request for spending more time outside than indoors. We look forward to the time in the near futures where we can come together and hold each others hearts and celebrate Claudia's life together.
