Robert J. Meier

Robert “Bob” J. Meier, 87, of Ross Twp. and recently Springville, New York, passed away on June 17, 2020. He was born on December 17, 1932 in Shaler Twp., PA. Bob graduated from Shaler High in 1951. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1954 during the Korean War. He attended night school at Robert Morris School of Business and earned his degree. This led to a long career in banking. In his golden years he spent time with his children and grandchildren. Bob was known for his love of Jesus and was active in his church and other ministries. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Glenshaw, PA and participated in events for the Lutheran Laymen’s League. He supported the Pittsburgh Lutheran Ministries and the Concordia Home in Cabot, Pa. He married Vera (nee Schattauer) in 1957. Loving father of Robert J. Jr., Jeffrey D. (Eunice), Vera L. (Craig) Langhans, Patricia L. and Jonathan E. Meier. Loving grandfather of Nathan J., Vera Marie (Andrew) Stobnicki, Katelynn J., Jonathan S. and Shawn T. Langhans; survived by a sister Betty Myshin from Ft Walton Beach, FL, a sister-in-law Renate Meier of Warren, PA, and nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife Vera of 47 years, his parents Charles A. and Marcella P. Meier, sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Lt Col John Mykicz, brother Charles W. Meier, and brother-in-law Daniel Myshin. Friends will be received Saturday 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Sunday 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bock Funeral Home, Ltd. 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd. Glenshaw. A funeral service will be held in the Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 Scott Ave. Glenshaw on Monday at 10:00 AM. Following the service Interment will be at Mount Royal Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to the church.
