Obituaries:

Dolly Bandula

Wednesday, November 18, 2020

Dolly Bandula, 83, of O'Hara Township abruptly died from COVID-19 on Nov. 18th, 2020 after only a two-week battle with the virus. She is preceded in death by her husband, John. She is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Yates (Ted) and Tara Bertini (Chris); her three granddaughters, Makiala Yates, Maura Yates and Taylor Bertini; her brother, Ken Rozycki; and many loving cousins. Dolly completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Pittsburgh along with a master's degree in Psychology. She went on to work as a psychology advisor at Pitt where she had the opportunity to go on Semester at Sea with her students. This trip was one of the joys of her life and fostered a life-long love of travel. She was able to visit 88 countries throughout her life and collected priceless memories and stories that she passed along to her family. Dolly lived her life with no regrets and was unapologetically herself. She had a love for cheetah print and sparkles, a gene that she was happy to see was passed down to her granddaughters. When her first granddaughter was born, Dolly decided that she wanted to be called "Lola," which meant grandmother in Filipino. She chose this name despite having no ties to the nationality... because why not? A wonderful conversationalist and whip smart, her favorite topics ranged from politics to her numerous travels. She loved sweets and always reminded us that life was short. Eat dessert first. She was vibrant, one-of-a-kind, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. As Dolly said in her final moments, "This certainly has been an adventure." Due to COVID-19, a private service will be held with immediate family only and a life celebration will be held at a later date. Her family would like to remind everyone to do their part in slowing the spread of this horrible virus and to please wear a mask.
